Conference ACA 2019gh

Next week, Education Relief Foundation (ERF) President Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam will be a featured speaker at the African Curriculum Association conference (ACA 2019) in Accra, Ghana, from 26 to 31 May. This year's theme is Using Curriculum to Achieve Better Educational Outcomes: An African Dialogue. The ERF President will focus on the urgent need for regional coordination, exemplified by groups like the ACA, to develop and strengthen curriculum implementation. He will also discuss the four pillars of Balanced and Inclusive Education (BIE): contextuality, intraculturalism, transdisciplinarity and dialecticism.

The ERF President's address on Tuesday, 28 May will be streamed live on the conference site (https://aca2019gh.org) as part of a set of discussions informing the creation of a regional forum of policy-makers, practitioners, teachers and scholars working in curriculum implementation. The Minister of Education for Ghana, the Honorable Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, will co-host the conference on behalf of his country, which is among the first countries to have taken up the International Call for Balanced and Inclusive Education. ERF is now developing pilot projects on BIE implementation with the Ghanaian Ministry of Education.

The ACA was created to assist the member countries of the African Union to strengthen the activities of their Curriculum Centres through international best practices, research, and curriculum support materials. The 2019 conference marks the anniversary of the ACA's creation, during the first ACA conference in 2018 in Kampala, Uganda. ERF salutes the continued commitment to this valuable initiative from all of the partners and stakeholders involved.
