Signing MOU with the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon River Basin (COICA)

A cooperation agreement was signed today with the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon River Basin (COICA) as the Education Relief Foundation’s President and senior ERF officials visit COICA’s headquarters in Ecuador to concretise the International Call for Balanced and Inclusive Education (ICBIE). This agreement is the first step towards a third way, the seed of a development model emanating from the heart of the Global South.

COICA is the highest international coordinating body of the indigenous peoples and nationalities of the Amazon basin in nine countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, French Guyana, Guyana and Suriname. It seeks to coordinate the initiatives related to the promotion and strengthening of the education of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon Basin. Today, it has taken the unambiguous step towards the achievement of our collective aspiration for Balanced and Inclusive Education.
